about

In 1995 The Others (Rome Italy) embraced fully definitely their new path: Folk rock. Entering the new line up Fabrizio Napoli, a great Folk, Blues, Americana Byrdsy-style, guitarist beside a talented singer and Emilio Quaroni on Farfisa organ /vocals and sometimes arp The Others left their punk approach for a distinctively more melodic vein.
Leaving behind their backs the sound of the first album, recorded in studio, THE OTHERS started recording in their own practice space already in 1993 a bunch of tracks and their second and third album. Quality of the recordings was poor and to call these tracks lo-fi is surely an over-statement.
That said for lovers of the obscure and do-it-yourself Sixties sound these years produced some of their most authentic sounding material ever. Here, splitting an EP with THE THANES, heroes of the Neo Sixties scene since the early 80s The Others worked on two very moody folk rockers: "Bitter Bells" originally written by Texas pride Neal Ford and The Fanatics and "How Many days", penned by the 5 AM from New England.
Read what music experts Doug Hanners and Aram Heller had to say about these version, period.
On 'the winner' side The Thanes provide two fantastic numbers filled with the equal dose of authentic Sixties sound and a certain tension and moodiness that really has no time. "Dissatisfaction" is a wild number with wailing' harp a-la Wally Tax and "Ship Wreck" an awesome ballad with Psych break in the middle.
The collaboration with the Thanes continued as they cut their fantastic "Undignified Noblemen" album on Misty Lane Records the following year.
